Type locality: Porto de Mõs, Leiria, Portugal
Type host: Oryctolagus cuniculus
Comments: in their catalog of BMNH types, Keirans & Hillyard (2001) found no evidence that a paratype of Ixodes bivari had been deposited in that museum. Ixodes bivari is not treated as valid in Estrada-Peña et al. (2017).
