Warburton, C. (1908) On some new and obscure species of the genus Haemaphysalis of the Ixodidae . Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 14, 508–519.

Type depositories: BMNH: a lectotype (male) and paralectotypes (males and females) were designated in Keirans & Brewster (1981) ; ENV, LSHTM, MNHN, USNTC? and ZMB: paralectotypes (males and females) ( Nuttall & Warburton 1915, as “types”)

Type locality: China or Mongolia because the specimens were collected from “Chinese dogs” in Mongolia, it being unclear where the dogs were parasitized .

Type host: dog

Comments: in the catalog of USNTC types by Keirans & Clifford (1984), no specimens of Haemaphysalis campanulata are listed.
