Type depositories: BMNH: a lectotype (male) and paralectotypes (males and females) were designated in Keirans & Brewster (1981) ; ENV, LSHTM, MNHN, USNTC? and ZMB: paralectotypes (males and females) ( Nuttall & Warburton 1915, as “types”)
Type locality: China or Mongolia because the specimens were collected from “Chinese dogs” in Mongolia, it being unclear where the dogs were parasitized .
