Type depository: BMNH: a lectotype (female) and paralectotypes (nymphs and larvae) were designated by Keirans & Brewster (1981)
Type locality: Fastcastle, Scotland, Great Britain
Type host: the lectotype was collected from rocks under a nest of doves
Comments: Guglielmone et al. (2020) treated the morphological definitions of Ixodes caledonicus as uncertain; redescription of the type material may help clarify the status of this species.
