Warburton, C. (1910) On two collections of Indian ticks. Parasitology, 3, 395–407.
Type depositories: BMNH: lectotype (male) and paralectotypes (males, a female and nymphs) ( Keirans & Hillyard 2001); ENV and ZMB: paralectotype (males) ( Nuttall & Warburton 1915, Moritz & Fischer 1981)
Type locality: Colombo , Sri Lanka
Type host: Tragulus meminna
Comments: larvae were included among the type specimens in Warburton (1910) and Nuttall & Warburton (1915), and among paralectotypes listed in Keirans & Hillyard (2001), but the larva was not described in Warburton (1910). Nuttall & Warburton (1915) and Moritz & Fischer (1981) named the specimens of Haemaphysalis cuspidata “type” and “ paratype,” respectively.
