Nomenclatural notes:—The nomenclature associated with the name K. marmorata was discussed by Smith (2021b: 94–97, 2022: 105–108) (see also Baker 1893: 458 where the name K. marmorata was adopted).

Taxonomic notes:— Kalanchoe marmorata is the name of an accepted species. The taxonomy of K. marmorata was discussed by Smith (2021b: 97–98, 2022: 105–107). Kalanchoe marmorata is included in K. subg. Kalanchoe .

17. Kalanchoe somaliensis Baker (1895: 214) .

Type:— SOMALIA [Somali Land]. Wardie, 22 February [presumably] 1895, received [presumably at Herb. K] in “5/95” [May 1895], [Miss] Edith Cole s.n. [Herb. K accession number H608/68 41] [lectotype, Herb. K barcode K000232777! (image of the specimen available for examination online at https://apps.kew.org/herbcat/getImage.do?imageBarcode=K000232777)], lectotype designated by Smith (2021b: 97).

Nomenclatural notes:—The name K. somaliensis is the basionym of K. marmorata Baker (1892: 300) var. somaliensis (Baker 1895: 214) Smith (2022: 107) ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ).

Taxonomic notes:—The name K. marmorata var. somaliensis is accepted for a distinctive variety (Smith 2022: 107–108). Kalanchoe marmorata is included in K. subg. Kalanchoe .

18. Kalanchoe pilosa Baker (1895: 289) .

Type:— ZAMBIA. Mwero Plateau, west of Lake Tanganyika, 1894, [ Alexander ] Carson 3 (holotype Herb. K barcode K000232736!).

Nomenclatural notes:—As far as could be determined, the gathering [ Alexander ] Carson 3 consisted of a single specimen. It is the only material that Baker (1895: 289) cited and is interpreted as the holotype.

Taxonomic notes:—The name K. pilosa is at present included in the synonymy of a broadly conceived K. lanceolata ( Forsskål 1775: CXI & 89) Persoon (1805: 446) ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ) (see Smith et al. 2019: 172). Kalanchoe lanceolata is included in K. subg. Kalanchoe .

19. Cotyledon pannosa Baker (1881: 269) .

Type:— MADAGASCAR. Ankaratra Mountains, 1879, Langley Kitching s.n. [holotype, Herb. K barcode K000232849 (http://specimens. kew.org/herbarium/K000232849, not seen)].

Nomenclatural notes:—The typification of the name Cotyledon pannosa , a synonym of K. eriophylla Hils. & Bojer ex Tulasne (1857: 149) , was discussed by Smith & Figueiredo (2023b: 278–279).

Additionally, the nomenclature of the other Kalanchoe species, apart from K. eriophylla , which were described by Tulasne (1857: 149), based on material collected by Wenceslas (“Wencelaus,” “Wenceslaus,” “Wenzel”) Bojer (baptised Vaclar Pojer) (1795–1856) [and Carl (“Charles,” “Karl”) Theodor Hilsenberg (1802–1824)] was dealt with by Smith & Figueiredo (2023b: 278–280).

Taxonomic notes:—The name Cotyledon pannosa is treated as a heterotypic synonym of K. eriophylla . Kalanchoe eriophylla is included in K. subg. Calophygia.
