Trox aequalis Say, 1832 View in CoL
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: GEORGIA. The species was reported to “ apparently live ” in bat guano in a cave ( Reeves et al., 2000: 175). Slay et al. (2012) considered this to be an accidental collection since there is only this single record from a cave. Trox aequalis , widespread through the Nearctic Region, is usually associated with nests of various mammals and birds (Vaurie, 1955) and not with caves or guano, supporting the contention of Slay et al. (2012).
