Trox laticollis LeConte, 1854 View in CoL
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: IOWA, ARKANSAS. This scarce American species is almost exclusively found in fox burrows ( Robinson, 1941; Vaurie, 1955). Peck & Christiansen (1990) presented a single record from a cave, themselves denoting it as an accidental collection, something with which Slay et al. (2012) agreed. Robinson (1941) reported four individuals of Trox laticollis which were feeding on a dead fox in a cave; we suspect that the common denominator is the fox, and not the cave.
