Phthiarella rondonia Brailovsky and Barrera , new species

Diagnosis. Close to P. affinis (Distant) with coxae, trochanters and femora orange, corium behind claval commissure with wide yellowish to yellowish orange transverse fascia reaching the costal borders and abdominal sterna III–IV yellowish to yellowish orange. In P. rondonia sp. nov., the humeral angles are short and acute; antennal segment I dark orange; the anterior lobe of pronotal disk with wide yellowish to yellowish orange transverse fascia; and propleura metallic green without upper third yellow, like in P. affinis on which the humeral angles are remarkable large and acute, the inner surface of antennal segment I black, and the anterior lobe of pronotal disk with narrow, arcuate, yellowish transverse fascia.

Description. Holotype female. Body length 20.00. Head length 2.60; width across eyes 2.40; interocular distance 1.33; interocellar distance 0.59; preocular distance 1.42; length antennal segments: I, 4.23; II, 4.76; III, 3.50; IV 6.84; pronotum: total length 3.23; width across humeral angles 5.55; scutellum: length 2.37; width 2.60.

Dorsal coloration. Head metallic green with short yellow spot behind each ocelli; antennal segment I dark orange, with basal and apical joint black with metallic green reflections, II–III dark brown with bluish reflections, IV dark brown; pronotum with collar, calli, anterolateral borders and posterior margin metallic green; anterior lobe with wide orange transverse fascia not reaching the anterolateral borders; scutellum and clavus metallic green; apex of claval commissure orange; corium metallic green with wide orange transverse fascia behind claval commissure reaching the costal borders; hemelytral membrane black with metallic green reflections; connexival segments III–IV orange, and V–IX black with metallic green reflections; dorsal abdominal segments III–V orange and VI–IX black. Ventral coloration. Head metallic green and lateral to midline with yellowish spot near collar; rostral segment I metallic green, II black with apical third dark orange, III dark orange, IV black with basal third dark orange; pro-, meso-, and metasternum, inner margin of acetabulae, coxae, trochanters, femora, anterior and posterior lobe of metathoracic peritreme and abdominal sterna III–IV orange; pro-, meso-, and metapleura, abdominal sterna V–VII and genital plates metallic green.

Structure. Head. Rostrum reaching anterior third of abdominal sternite IV. Thorax. Humeral angles with short acute spine.

Male. Unknown.

Etymology. This species is named after the type locality, Rondônia.
