Diagnosis. Phthiarella decorata ( Stål, 1865) the type species of the genus is recognized by having the coxae and trochanters yellowish orange and femora pale brown to black, scattered with bluish green reflections and basal joint yellowish orange; the anterior pronotal lobe with wide yellowish orange transverse fascia not reaching the anterolateral borders; the posterior lobe of pronotal disk black, scattered with bluish reflections; the corium with complete wide yellowish orange transverse fascia touching the claval commissure and reaching the costal borders; the dorsal abdominal segments III-VI yellowish orange and VII with anterior half yellowish orange and posterior half black; pro-, meso-, and metasternum entirely yellowish orange; pro-acetabulae with inner margin bicolorous, with anterior half yellowish orange and posterior half bluish purple; meso-, and meta-acetabulae with inner margin widely and entirely yellowish orange; abdominal sterna III-IV yellowish orange, and V-VII and genital capsule metallic green.

Redescription. Male. Body length 17.45. Head: length 2.32; width across eyes 2.30; interocular distance 1.27; interocellar distance 0.58; preocular distance 1.35; length antennal segments: I 4.55, II, 5.10, III, 3.90, IV, 6.36; pronotum: total length 2.57; maximum width across humeral angles 5.15; scutellum: length 2.02; width 2.20.

Dorsal coloration. Head metallic bluish green with short yellow spot behind each ocelli; antennal segments I-III (IV missing) brown; pronotal disk with collar, calli, anterolateral borders and humeral angles metallic bluish green; anterior lobe with wide yellowish orange rectangular fascia not reaching the anterolateral borders; posterior lobe black, scattered with bluish reflections; scutellum black; clavus black with bluish reflections; corium black with bluish reflections and complete wide yellow transverse fascia touching the apex of claval commissure and reaching the costal border; hemelytral membrane dark brown with veins metallic bluish reflections; connexival segments III–V orange, VI–VII black with metallic bluish reflections; dorsal abdominal segments III–VI orange, VII with anterior half orange and posterior half black with metallic bluish reflections. Ventral coloration. Head metallic green with short yellow spot at each side of midline near to the collar; rostral segment I black with metallic bluish and purple reflections, segment II pale brown with apical third dark yellow, and segments III-IV pale brown; pro-, meso-, and metasternum, anterior and posterior lobe of metathoracic peritreme, and inner margin of meso-, and meta-acetabulae yellowish orange; pro-acetabulae with inner margin bicolorous, yellowish orange at the anterior half and bluish purple at posterior half; coxae and trochanters yellowish orange; femora pale brown scattered with metallic bluish green reflections and with basal joint yellowish orange; tibiae and tarsi brown; abdominal sterna III-IV yellowish orange, V metallic green with yellowish orange marks and VI-VII and male genital capsule entirely metallic green.

Structure. Head. Rostrum reaching posterior margin of abdominal sternite IV. Pronotum. Humeral angles thick at base, tapering into short acute spine. Genital capsule. Posteroventral edge gently sinuate to straight; lateral margins rounded, slightly folded inward ( Fig. 59). Parameres. Figs. 74‒75.

Female. Unknown.

Type locality. Brazil without specific data .

Distribution. Cited from Brazil (Santarem), Colombia ( Boyaca, Cundinamarca, Meta, Vaupés), Ecuador ( Napo, Prov. Misahualli), Peru (Puerto Pajares, Rio Pachitea, Madre de Dios, Callanga, Marcapata), Venezuela (Estado Amazonas (Puerto Ayacucho) ( Stål 1865, Walker 1871, Blöte 1936, Packauskas 2010, Eger et al. 2015, Mattei and Mattei 2017, Baine and Brailovsky 2019, Cazorla 2021, Leavengood et al. 2024, Serna and Wolff 2024, Coreoidea SF Team, 2025), and first record from French Guiana. Packauskas (2010) provided a distribution for P. viridiventris and P. decorata combined. As such, the distributions herein are corrected for the respective species.

Material examined. Type material. LECTOTYPE male, BRAZIL, without any other information. Type examined and housed at NHRS . Other material. 1 male, FRENCH GUIANA, without data, Coll. Bar, R . Oberthur, 1899 ( MNHN).
