Diagnosis. The only known species in the genus Phthiarella ( “decorata ” group) with clavus and corium is almost entirely yellow. The legs with coxae and trochanters pale yellowish orange, the femora black with bluish green metallic reflections and basal third yellowish orange, and tibiae and tarsi black.
Redescription. Male. Measurements. Not available to be taken.
Dorsal coloration. Head metallic green with yellow spot behind each ocelli; antennal segments I–III black with bluish green reflections, IV dull black; pronotum and scutellum black with bluish reflections; clavus yellow with basal angle black; corium yellow with basal angle and apical third black; hemelytral membrane black with bluish metallic reflections; connexivum and dorsal abdominal segments not examined. Ventral coloration. Head metallic green with yellow spot at each side of midline near collar; rostral segment I black with green metallic reflection, II–IV black; pro-, meso-, and metasternum, coxae, trochanters, and anterior and posterior lobe of metathoracic peritreme pale yellowish orange; pro-, meso-, and metapleura, abdominal sterna III–VII, pleural margin of abdominal sterna III-VII, and genital capsule metallic green; femora black with bluish green metallic reflections and basal third yellowish orange; tibiae and tarsi black.
Structure. Head. Rostrum reaching middle third of abdominal sternite IV. Thorax. Humeral angles thick at base, tapering into medium size subacute spine.
Female. Unknown.
Type locality. Ecuador .
Distribution. Colombia and Ecuador (Breddin, 1901-b, Serna and Wolff 2024).
Material examined. Type material. HOLOTYPE male, ECUADOR, without any other information. Type examined and housed at DEIC.
