Eurypelma C. L. Koch, 1850: 73 . Type species: Aranea avicularia Linnaeus, 1758 ( Simon, 1903: 936; Roewer, 1942: 238). First synonymized by Pickard-Cambridge (1897: 21). Valerio (1980: 268) removed it from synonymy.

E u a t h l u s A u s s e r e r, 1 8 7 5: 1 8 8. T y p e s p e c i e s: E. truculentus L. Koch in Ausserer, 1875. First synonymized by Raven (1985: 182). Schmidt (1992: 9) removed it from synonymy.

Brachypelmides Schmidt & Krause, 1994: 7 . Type species: B. klaasi Schmidt & Krausse, 1994 View in CoL ( Schmidt, 1997a: 205, 1997b: 19; Locht et al., 1999: 196; Vol, 1999: 11; Schmidt, 2003: 137, 2004: 4). Smith (1994: 159) considered it as junior synonym of Brachypelma View in CoL .
