Distribution: Sierra Madre Oriental Province and Veracruzan Province.

Note: Apanaskevich (2024) described the species Haemaphysalis mariae Apanaskevich, 2024 collected in leporids from Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas, USA. The author mentioned that the adults of this species are similar to those of H. leporispalustris and have probably been confused. For this reason, and considering the distribution of the new species, it is necessary to carry out new collections to determine if only one or both species are present in the state.
