Diagnosis. Gular sutures confluent, confluent point in about midlength of head capsule, from here prolonged ahead as one straight suture; ligula reduced, with two small lateral lobes; labrum with anterior margin rectilinear or deeply concave, bearing minuscule teeth; antennae with 11 antennomeres, antennomere 5 about as large as 6, antennal club composed of three antennomeres; tarsal formula 2-2-2.

Remarks. Megatyphlus has 3 species and its members with the body length 1.5–1.9 mm are the largest leptotyphlines.
