Stem up to 70 cm, leafy only at the base. Basal leaves lanceolate to ovate, undivided, grey-tomentose beneath. Capitula long-pedunculate. Involucre 5-6(-7) cm in diameter; bracts subacute, densely cibate. Calcifuge. S.W. & C. Alps.
