General distribution: Algeria, Armenia, Greece, Iran, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates.
Comments: Perhaps Platylister ( Popinus) simeani (Mulsant and Godart, 1875) is synonymous with P. algiricus . Mulsant and Godart did not compare their species with P. algiricus . A comparison of the type specimens of both species is needed to solve this question ( Kanaar 2008).
