Notes

Similar to D. septemguttatus . In this latter species, there is no white spot on the fourth metasomal segment or it is much smaller than the spot on the fifth tergite (both are of equal size in D. raptorius ). D. raptorius was the first ichneumonid wasp to be reported hibernating. Rossius (1790) mentions a specimen he found below oak bark in his monograph: “ Captus etiam intra corticem & lignum Quercus m. Januar ”. The species is widespread throughout Europe. In Denmark, it appears to be more common than in other areas.
