Current status. Icteranthidium ferrugineum ( Fabricius, 1787) View in CoL (according to Niu et al. 2020: 2012).
Remarks. The status of Anthidium flavipes is disputed by some authors. Morawitz described A. flavipes based on males from Iran ( Morawitz 1894: 26). Popov (1950: 316) placed A. flavipes in the genus Icteranthidium Michener, 1948 . Pasteels (1969b: 67) confirmed the taxonomic status of this name. However, Warncke (1980: 175) synonymised A. flavipes Morawitz 1894 with A. ferrugineum ssp. discoidale Latreille, 1809 . Wu (2006: 140) treated A. flavipes as a distinct species within the genus Icteranthidium Michener, 1948 , providing a redescription of the male of I. flavipes ( Morawitz, 1894) . Niu et al. (2020b: 211) regarded both A. flavipes and A. discoidale as synonyms of I. ferrugineum .
Popov (1967: 58) indicated material of Anthidium flavipes from females (without description) and males (some from copulation) from Uzbekistan, and some males from Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. The re-examination of this material shows that females and males from Uzbekistan (Juma, Sharqiya, Kurgan-Tube) determinated by Popov as A. flavipes belong to a separate previously undescribed species. The paralectotype of A. flavipes from Sulfagar is also not conspecific with the lectotype and paralectotypes from Nerduali but represents another species.
Athough in this paper, we regarded Icteranthidium flavipes as a junior synonym of I. ferrugineum , the relationship between I. ferrugineum and I. flavipes is unclear and should be investigated, as the latter may be a valid name. Icteranthidium ferrugineum is considered here as a group of obscure species ( I. ferrugineum s. l.), the status of many of which are still controversial and revision is required ( Kasparek 2022: 159).
Distribution. West and North Africa, Spain, Russia (European part), Israel, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, China ( Xinjiang) ( Warncke 1980; Proshchalykin & Fateryga 2017; Niu et al. 2020b; Kasparek 2022).
