Type locality: Shamakhi ( Azerbaijan).

Published locality: “Tschemachlinskaja”.

Current status. Anthidium ( Proanthidium) venustum Morawitz, 1877 View in CoL (placed in Proanthidium by Warncke 1980: 187).

Remarks. Description of male: Wu 2006: 141.

Wu (2006: 141) transferred this species to the genus Icteranthidium Michener, 1948 .

However, Anthidium venustum has rounded axilae (not in the form of teeth), the clypeus strongly narrowed to basal margin, and angled subantenal sutures (not straight). The combination of these features indicates that this species should be considered in the genus Anthidium . This species belongs to the subgenus Proanthidium in sharing the strongly developed scutellum, slightly protruding above the propodeum, and rounded posterior margin.

Distribution. Egypt, Azerbaijan, China ( Xizang) ( Warncke 1980; Wu 2006). Record from Iran by Nadimi et al. 2014 needs to be cheked.
