Material examined. Holotype, ♂: [BRAZIL] Chapada , Brazil, Acc. No. 2966 / Nov. / TYPE / Scaphoideus obliquus n.sp. Osb. / Caphodus [ CMNH] . 1♀: [ BRAZIL] Chapada / Oct. / Collection CF Baker / Caphodus obliquus (Osb.) Kramer 1963 / USNMENT01513521.

An additional specimen at USNM has only two legs remaining on the point mount and has the same locality label data as the USNM female listed above and with determination label: Scaphoideus obliquus Osb., Compared with type by Oman [ USNM].

Male.Pygofer dorsally sclerotized to apex, not incised posteriorly;with long claw like process at mid height of posterior margin; with sharp toothlike process at posteroventral corner; with long macrosetae arranged in 2–3 row posteriorly; with other shorter, fine setae on ventral half. Valve bluntly triangular; median length less than 2x width. Subgenital plates long, triangular, apex rounded and with small toothlike process; with row of macrosetae laterally along entire length; with numerous long fine setae laterally. Connective with anterior arms closely appressed; stem broad, shorter than anterior arms; articulated with aedeagus.Style relatively short; broadly bilobed at base; with blunt preapical lobe; apophysis relatively thick, short, clawlike, apex blunt. Aedeagus with two pairs of processes arising near base of shaft; shorter pair of processes rising posterodorsad along shaft, slightly shorter than shaft; longer pair extending ventrad of shaft, about 1.75x length of shaft; shaft narrow, with apical flange. Segment X dorsally, laterally, and ventrally sclerotized; ventrally with pair of long processes.

Female. Sternite VII very long; laterally sinuate and tapering to lingulate apical lobe. First valvifer with large, irregular posterior extension, broad and lobate at base, dorsally constricted to digitate apex; other characters as in genus description.

Notes. The male genitalia, female sternite VII, and ovipositor structures are illustrated and described here for the first time. “Chapada” on the labels refers to Chapada dos Guimarães in Mato Grosso State ( Camisão et al., 2024).
