Type species: Eutettix dentatus Osborn, 1923 by original designation by Oman (1938)

Note. In addition to the holotype specimen of Eutettix mimicus Osborn found in the Kramer loan, other types of Atanus spp. at USNM and CMNH were examined and are illustrated here.

The phylogenomic analyses of Cao et al. (2022), resolved Atanus within a large clade containing most of the New World genera previously placed in Athysanini . Zahniser et al. (in press) included these genera, including Atanus , in the resurrected tribe Platymetopiini .
