Lectotype (Strid in Cafferty & Jarvis in Taxon 53: 1053. 2004): Löfling 307, Herb. Linn. No. 326.1 ( LINN) .

Generitype of Velezia Linnaeus.

Current name: Velezia rigida L. View in CoL ( Caryophyllaceae ).

Note: Although Ghazanfar & Nasir (in Nasir & Ali, Fl. Pakistan 175: 120. 1986) indicated material in LINN and UPS as syntypes (incorrectly, as neither collection was explicitly cited in the protologue), the specimens do not form part of a single collection (Art. 9.15) so their statement cannot be interpreted as a formal typification.
