Diagnosis. Tachinus (Tachinus) gelidus can be distinguished from other members of the subgenus Tachinus from Japan by the combination of the following characters: elytra reddish brown with sutural, lateral, and posterior margins black; abdominal segments IV–VII with long lateral setae; male sternite VII with triangular arc of modified setae; female tergite VIII and sternite VIII without distinct lobes. Biology. KAMIMURA & HAYASHI (2014) reported that this species was collected by carrion traps.

Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu), Kunashiri-tô Is., South Korea, China, Russia, Mongolia.

Remarks. VESELOVA (2011) recorded this species from Kunashiri-tô.
