Mémoires de l’Institut scientifique de Madagascar, sér. B, 4: 125 (1952). — Lectotype (here designated): Grevé 209 (P! [P00413173]; iso-, P! [P00413171, P00413172]). As here circumscribed, Diospyros greveana H.Perrier excludes D. greveana H.Perrier subsp. boinensis H. Perrier , which is considered to represent a distinct species, for which the new combination is proposed above. Grevé 209 is here chosen as the lectotype of D. greveana H.Perrier instead of the other syntype ( Grevé 43) because it possesses mature fruit.
