Mémoires de l’Institut scientifique de Madagascar, sér. B, 4: 134 (1952). — Lectotype (here designated): Perrier 8797 ( P! [ P00573709 ]; iso-, P! [ P00573710 ]).
The sheet of Perrier 8797 with female material is here chosen as the lectotype. Two other syntypes ( Chapelier s.n. and Perrier 2372) are excluded from Diospyros bezofensis as they represent D. haplostylis Boivin ex Hiern.
