Distribution in Laos. Luang Prabang Province ( Brosch et al. 1999; Racheli et al. 2008; Kishida et al. 2020), Luang Namtha Province ( Brosch et al. 1999), Xieng Khouang Province (?) ( Kishida et al. 2020), and Phongsaly Province (this study).
Reference COI barcode sequences. GenBank acc. no. PV069575, PV069592, PV069593.
Remarks. (1) The first record from Phongsaly Province. (2) Actias selene (Hübner, [1807]) is morphologically very similar to Actias ningpoana C. Felder & R. Felder, 1862 . We assume A. ningpoana to be occurring in Laos, but it is yet to be confirmed. Therefore, correct identification of A. selene requires using only the DNA barcoding. Based on our material and available sequence data obtained with BOLD, A. selene reliably occurs in two Laotian provinces — Phongsaly (this study) and Luang Prabang (BOLD sample ID SASNA876-09).
