Trichopagurus macrochela Komai and Osawa, 2005 View in CoL
( Fig.9F View Figure 9 )
Habitat. Sandy substrate on a rocky shore, among dead coral, intertidal.
Distribution. Philippines and Ryukyu, Amami Island and Yap Island, Japan. This is a new record in Indonesian waters.
Color in life. Carapace, antennae, chelipeds and ambulatory legs generally pale reddish brown, without conspicuous markings; setae at base of cornea accentuated with dark reddish brown (after Komai and Osawa, 2005).
Remarks. Although only one ovigerous female specimenwascollectedinthisstudy, themorphological characters agree well with T. macrochela : 11 pairs of biserial gills, carpus of right cheliped flattened, dorsomesial margin with row of strong spines, female with left gonopore only, fifth coxae asymmetrical, left larger than right. Slight differences with Komai and Osawa’s (2005) descriptions is that in the material in this study the fifth coxae both with numerous long setae on the ventral surface.
