Habitat. Sandy shore with gravel and boulders, intertidal.
Distribution. Philippines, and Indonesia: Lombok,
Sulawesi, and Ambon, and now Halmahera.
Remarks. The color and color pattern of this species resemble that of P. moluccensis , but the two taxa were easily separated by the flattened, closely set, marginally denticulate tubercles on the chelipeds of P. fungiformis . Differences between P. fungiformis and P. moluccensis have been discussed at length by Komai and Rahayu (2004).
