2.4. Myrcia insigniflora M.F.Santos , nom. nov.
Replaced synonym: Marlierea glazioviana Kiaersk. (1893: 48) .
Type:— BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro, Glaziou 11998 (lectotype C (flowering branch)! here designated , isolectotypes C! , G! , K! , LE! , P! , R! ).
Distribution:— Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo states.
Note:—A new name was necessary because Myrcia glazioviana Kiaersk. is already published ( Kiaerskou 1893). The specific epithet refers to the unusual morphology of the floral parts: calyx lobes are fused and not clearly distinct, petals are coherent after anthesis resembling a calyptra, stamens are numerous (>200) and often persistent in the fruit. Kiaerskou (1893) based the description of Marlierea glazioviana on the collection Glaziou 11998 deposited in the herbarium C. Only these materials have the author´s handwriting in the label. Since there are two sheets of Glaziou 11998, we had to choose one of them as the lectotype; the two sheets are identified only by IDC microfiche number, one flowering branch no. 121 III 1 and a sheet with two leaves with no. 121 III 2. The flowering branch is represented in the protologue, and we choose this sheet as the lectotype.
