So far, the invasive Nearctic assessin bug species Zelus renardii Kolenati, 1857 View in CoL (Heteroptera: Reduviidae)
has been reported from the following islands of the Canary archipelago ( Spain): Tenerife ( BAENA & SANTOS, 2021; VAN DER HEYDEN, 2022), Lanzarote ( VAN DER HEYDEN, 2023a), Fuerteventura ( VAN DER HEYDEN, 2023b) and Gran Canaria ( VAN DER HEYDEN, 2023c).
Herein, the first record of Z. renardii on the island of La Gomera is presented: On 01-03-2025, an adult specimen ( Fig. 1 View Fig ) was found in Tecina (coordinates: 28.0347639508, -17.1875558048), located in the municipality of Alajeró at the southern coast of the island GoogleMaps . Five related photos were uploaded to the online database iNaturalist (see here).
