The Thysanoptyx View in CoL generic complex
Diagnosis. Members of the generic complex are characterised by the male forewing bearing a subbasal elongate patch of androconial scales along the radial vein (the feature common with the related Teulisna s.l.), and having a narrow discal cell with a longitudinal fold invaginated ventrad. The wing colouration varies from ochreous-brownish in Thysanoplisna to bright ochreous-yellow in Thysanoptyx , Collitoptyx and Medioptyx , and the forewing pattern consists of a large medial black spot and a smaller costal spot subapically (in certain species an additional, cuneal subbasal spot is present). The only exception is the genus Caliginoptyx gen. n., which has greyish-brown ground colour and diffuse, dark grey markings. The male genitalia configuration is similar to Teulisna s.l. but differs in the smaller and more weakly sclerotised uncus, the vinculum lacking the sclerotised structures, and the valva lacking the ampulla and having a markedly narrower sacculus. Additionally, the majority of the genera have a conjuga (except for Thysanoptyx having a reduced processus momenti), whereas Teulisna has a tendon.
