Etymology.
Neuter compound noun from the Greek prefix “ ῐ ̓ ́ ονo- ”, referring to violet, and the word “ κύλιξ ”, an ancient Greek pottery used to drink wine, due to the colour of the cup-like peridium.
Type.
Diagnosis.
Emerging plasmodium usually violaceous. Mature sporophores always sporocarpic, stalked and violet to dark violet, with dictydine granules concentrated on the peridium, sometimes also present in the stalk.
Species included: C. bicolor S. L. Stephenson, Novozh. and P. Wellman , C. fragilis Lado and Estrada, C. aff. lepida Meyl. , C. spinispora Lado and D. Wrigley, C. tecta Hooff , C. violacea Rex , C. zonatispora Lado, Mosquera and Beltrán-Tej.
