ETYMOLOGY
Latin: mosaic or patchwork of small squares.
SIZE
Previous records: 15–18 mm; Kuzikus specimens (n=18): 10.5-17 mm.
PERIOD OF ADULT ACTIVITY
Augustus; in Kuzikus: September, October.

DISTRIBUTION
Botswana, Namibia and Republic of South Africa.
NOTES
From the eight species composing the genus Catoeme Aurivillius, 1908 , only two, C. brincki Tippmann, 1959 and C. tessellata are reported from Namibia. Our collecting data in spring extends the flight period of the species.
