ETYMOLOGY
Latin: dark coloured.
SIZE
Previous records: 7.5–14 mm; Kuzikus specimens (n=3): 6.5–9.5 mm.
PERIOD OF ADULT ACTIVITY
March–December; in Kuzikus: January–April.

Cape Verde Islands, Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Libya, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of South Africa, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Yemen, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
NOTES
From the six species composing the genus Ossibia Pascoe, 1867 , O. fuscata represents one of the two species (with O. murina (Gerstaecker, 1855) , see below) occurring in Namibia. Our collecting data from the months of January and February extends and completes perfectly the flight period of the species which is now mentioned as possibly being present all over the year in Africa.
