ETYMOLOGY
Dedicated to Miss Catherine Spooner.
SIZE
Previous records: 26–36 mm; Kuzikus specimens (n=8): 32–39 mm.

In Kuzikus: end of March–April.

DISTRIBUTION
Namibia, Republic of South Africa and Zimbabwe.
NOTES
From the five species composing the genus Cochliopalpus Lacordaire, 1872 , only two, C. catherina and C. suturalis Harold, 1872 , are reported from Namibia. Our collecting data in the period from end of March to middle of April specifies the flight period of the species.
