ETYMOLOGY

Latin: small pepper.

DISTRIBUTION

Angola, Botswana, Namibia and Republic of South Africa.

NOTES

The African genus Pycnopsis Thomson, 1857 is composed by only one species, P. brachyptera Thomson, 1860 represented by three subspecies. Only the subspecies piperita (White, 1858) is present in the Kuzikus reserve while the nominotypic subspecies and the subspecies piperita occur in Namibia. Our various collecting data specifies the flight period of the species.
