Diagnosis. Forewing length: male: 22–23 mm, female: 26 mm. See above under D. castanea for differential diagnoses.

Foodplants. Unknown.

Distribution. Endemic to South Africa and apparently uncommon. Based on the limited number of specimens examined, the distribution of this species appears to be centred around the Maputaland-Pondoland bushlands and thickets ecoregion at the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 21–24 ).
