Remarks. Macrophthalmus verreauxi H. Milne Edwards, 1848 (a junior synonym of M. telescopicus Owen, 1839 ) was listed as occurring in the Hawaiian Is. by Sakai (1976), Davie (2002), and McLaughlin et al. (20005) although no previous records of M. ( Macrophthalmus) telescopicus under this name are known from the archipelago.

Habitat. Soft sediments in shallow subtidal.
