Culex ( Microculex) dubitans Lane & Whitman, 1951: 357 View in CoL ( ♂ G, ♀, Pe, Le). Holotype in USNM. Type locality: Guanabara , Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Belkin et al. 1971: (ty. loc. info.); Xavier, 1973: 159 (ty. info.).
Male genitalia ( Fig. 4): Tergum IX lobes semicircular with 3–7 simple setae; distance between lobes twice basal width. Gonocoxite oblong; subapical lobe with apically restricted setae; glabrous ventromesal surface. Columnar process with 2 evident, strong, filiform, apically pointed setae ( a and b) with seta a inserted basal to seta b. Gonostylus proportionally shorter, slightly curved, tapering towards apex, with broad, leaf-like gonostylar claw with pointed apex. Aedeagus with a dorsolateral process; pointed central process; apical process weakly sclerotized. Tergum X elongate, somewhat triangular, apical process broad; basal process pointed. Paraproct elongate; crown with 9 simple, pointed, curved blades.
Distribution: Brazil.
