Culex ( Microculex) inimitabilis Dyar & Knab, 1906a: 221 View in CoL (Le). Holotype in USNM. Type locality: Trinidad.
Pessoa & Galvão 1936: 86 (Le); Lane 1953 ( ♂ G, ♀, Pe, Le); Stone & Knight 1957: 51 (ty. info.); Belkin & Heinemann 1976: 272 ( Granada).
Male genitalia ( Fig. 9): Essentially like those of Cx. aphylactus . Tergum IX lobes developed; length 2x basal width; distance between lobes 4x basal width; apex with 2 or 3 long, simple, straight setae 2x lobe length. Gonocoxite oblong; subapical lobe with group of setae, 1 leaf-like. Columnar process short, robust; apex with 2 apically curved setae ( a and b), inserted at same level; seta a shorter than seta b; ventromesal surface with 3 simple, straight setae. Gonostylus curved, elongate, claw-like; apex pointed; broad, leaf-like gonostylar claw with pointed apex. Aedeagus with strong, knob-like ventral process; short dorsal process; pointed dorsolateral process. Tergum X outline asymmetrical; basal plate broad; paraproct elongate; dilated at basal level; crown with 5 curved, pointed blades.
Distribution: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Granada, Guyana, Panama, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela.
