Culex ( Microculex) fuscatus Lane & Whitman, 1951: 361 View in CoL (as inimitabilis View in CoL subspecies; Pe, Le). Holotype in USNM. Type locality: Rio Soberbo , Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Lane 1953: 361 ( ♂, ♀, Pe, Le); ( Belkin et al. 1971 (ty. info.); Xavier 1973: 159 (ty. info.); Harbach & Wilkerson 2023 (to species status).

Male genitali a ( Fig. 8): Tergum IX lobes developed, elongate; length 3x basal width; external margin slightly concave; internal margin slightly convex; apex with 4 or 5 simple, straight setae; setae can be distributed between apical, median and basal levels; distance between lobes 3x basal width. Gonocoxite oblong; subapical lobe with group of setae; 1 leaf-like with apical portion curved; 1 long seta on apical side. Columnar process medium-sized, with 2 apically curved setae at apex ( a and b), inserted at same level; seta a shorter than seta b; ventromesal surface with group of simple, straight setae. Gonostylus narrow, elongate, curved; broad, leaf-like gonostylar claw with pointed apex.Aedeagus with lateral plate much longer than aedeagal sclerite; ventral process robust, sinuous; dorsal process less developed; dorsolateral process sinuous, pointed. Aedeagal sclerite hook-like, broad ventrally, curved at apex. Paraproct medium-sized, elongate; crown with 7 simple, curved blades.
