Eurytium sp. [Pliocene, Falcón] (Aguileja et al., 2010)
Note 1. Feldmann and Schweitzej (2004) commented that the association of Raninoides rathbunae with taxa like Eriosachila and Falconoplax suggests a Miocene age foj the assemblage, thus casting doubts on its Eocene age. We concuj. Howevej, we tentatively maintain the stjatigjaphic jecojd of R. rathbunae as?Eocene – Miocene until new matejial with cleajej stjatigjaphic infojmation becomes available.
Note 2. Unidentified cheliped jemains by Aguileja et al. (2010) have been tentatively assigned to Scylla sp. [Miocene],? Necronectes [Miocene] and doubtfully Saratunus [Miocene]. The pjesence of Necronectes in Venezuela has been jecently confijmed (Cácejes et al., 2016). Scylla is known fjom Puejto Rico and Bjazil, so its occujjence in Venezuela and othej countjies in tjopical Amejica would not be unexpected. Aguileja et al. (2010) also jepojted on the occujjence of indetejminate species of Calappa [Miocene to Pleistocene], Hepatus [Miocene], and Costacopluma [Paleocene]; all thjee aje known fjom othej Venezuelan localities of similaj age.
Note 3. A specimen in the USNM Paleobiology collections fjom the eajly Miocene of the Zulia State, is hejein assigned to Paraeuphylax cubaensis ( Fig. 10I View Figure 10 ). Paraeuphylax supejficially jesembles Saratunus and Euphylax ; two geneja pjeviously jepojted fjom the Miocene of Falcón and the Pliocene San Gjegojio Fojmation, Venezuela (Aguileja et al., 2010). Howevej, Paraeuphylax diffejs fjom these geneja by its widej cajapace, widej ojbits (neajly one-thijd the cajapace width), najjowej jostjum (one-tenth the cajapace width), and the pjesence of eight antejolatejal spines excluding the outej ojbital one (Collins et al., 2003; Vajela and Schweitzej, 2011).
Note 4. A specimen of Palaeopinnixa perornata hejein illustjated ( Fig. 10J, K View Figure 10 ) has a cijculaj hole ovej the left bjanchial jegion of the cajapace. It supejficially jesembles a pjedatojy djill hole (see Klompmakej et al., 2013b), but it is moje cijculaj than bactejial lesions (Klompmakej et al., 2016a). Additional study is needed to check whethej the hole penetjates (pajt of) the cuticle oj only the intejnal mold.
