Note 1: The map by Marinoni et al. 2003 is in error. The lone site shown is on the coast of Ecuador, but Coca, Orellana, is in the interior, in the eastern part of the country.

Note 2: Marinoni et al. 2003 described T. naponica from 20 specimens collected in 1965 in Coca, Napo, on the Napo River (Spanish: Río Napo), Ecuador. Coca also is known as El Coca or Puerto Francisco de Orellana. Coca was in the province of Napo in 1965, but it became the capital of a new province— Orellana —in 1998. Thus, the type locality of T. naponica is in present-day Orellana. Thecomyia naponica is known only from the type locality.
