Type species: Isometopidea gryllocephala Miyamoto, Yasunaga, and Hayashi, 1996 from Japan, by original designation (monobasic) .
Diagnosis. Recognised by the elongate oval body; the flattened oval head, which clearly projects dorsally above the pronotum in lateral view; and the prominent broadened pronotal collar and lateral carina.
Distribution. India (new country record), Indonesia ( Sulawesi), Japan, and Taiwan.
