General distribution. Florida to Argentina including the West Indies.

Distribution in the DR. Widespread throughout the country.

Habitat. The largest Sphingidae of the DR, common in the coastal region and wooded biotopes at low and medium elevations.

Host plants. The caterpillar feeds on Annonaceae , especially Annona cherimola , a common tree in gardens, which may explain why this species is more frequent in anthropogenic areas than in more natural habitats.
