status

Drosera longifolia Linnaeus View in CoL , Species Plantarum 1: 282. 1753 View Cited Treatment , nom. rej.

"Habitat in Europa." RCN: 2228.

Lectotype (Heath in Calyx 2: 79. 1992): [icon] "Salsirora, siue Ros solis. 2. faemella, ubique notissima" in Thal, Sylv. Herc.: 116, t. 9, f. 2. 1588. - Epitype (Heath in Calyx 6: 38. 1998): Herb. Linn. No. 398.3 ( LINN) .

Current name: Drosera anglica Huds. View in CoL ( Droseraceae ).

Note: This name has long been treated as ambiguous, and usually placed in the synonymy of either D. anglica Huds. (1778) or D. intermedia Hayne (1801) . Cheek (in Taxon 47: 749. 1998) therefore proposed the name for rejection (stating that Heath’s choice of lectotype could belong to either D. anglica or D. intermedia ). Heath (in Calyx 6: 34. 1998) responded by designating Herb. Linn. No. 398.3 ( LINN), a specimen of D. anglica , as an epitype. However, Cheek’s proposal was recommended (see Barrie in Taxon 55: 796. 2006) but the name is listed without a type in Appendix V of the Vienna Code.
