Type locality

Cova de Joan d’Os [original citation: “Cova de Joan de l’Os, llamada también Cova d’Ullet, abierta a poniente en la Serra de Mora y a unos 6 u 8 kms. de Tartareu; entre Tragó de Noguera y Avellanes, partido de Balaguer, provincia de Lérida”].

Type material

Syntypes: MZB 70-1578 / MZB 70-1583 ( 29 ♀♀), MZB 78-2632 / MZB 78-2645 ( 35 ♂♂, 32 ♀♀), type loc., R. Zariquiey leg. (ex coll. R. Zariquiey) .

Remarks

Type series consisting of numerous specimens but no further details ( Zariquiey, 1924). The specimens deposited in the MCNB collection have red labels with the printed inscription “ Typus ”, almost all of which have a collection date of October 1923 on their collection labels. There are specimens from the type series in other collections: Biospeologica (MNHNP) ( Jeannel, 1924a) and FLC ( two specimens according to Fresneda & Salgado, 2016). In box 72 in the MNHNP general collection we have found at least eight specimens with the same red label stating “ Typus ” that probably correspond to the above-mentioned material from the Biospeologica collection. In the MNCNM collection (box 26) we have found around 20 specimens from the same locality with similar labels (but with a capture date of November 1923), none of which are identified as belonging to the type series.
