Type-locality. Cachoeira do Limão, Rio Tapajós, Pará, Brazil.

Distribution and habitat. Gonatodes tapajonicus is endemic to Jamanxin and middle Tapajós rivers, in Brazil, state of Pará ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ). It is arboreal and diurnal, inhabits flooded depressions with palms (well-preserved Euterpe oleracea forest) along the river, at the edge with primary terra firme forest, where it is found on palm and tree trunks ( 30–200 cm above ground, and 10–20 cm diameter—Rodrigues 1980; Sturaro & Ávila-Pires 2011).
