Phycus rufofemoratus Kröber, 1913: 11 . Type locality: "Arab. fel. Ehrbg.". Holotype female, Germany, Berlin, Museum für Naturkunde der Humboldt-Universität (ZMHB).
Paraphycus piceus Becker, 1922: 63 . Type locality: "Khartum 25.IV / Aegypt. Sudan /Ebner 1914". Holotype female, location not known (synonymy by Lyneborg 1978).
Local distribution. Lower Nile.
Geographical distribution. Cameroon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Jordan, Mauritius, Niger, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen.
Specimens examined. Cairo 10.X.1956 ( 1 male), Ain Shams 19.V.2010 ( 1 male) (ASUC); Fayoum Karoun 14.VIII.1948 ( 1 female), 29.VIII.1948 ( 1 male); Giza 2.X.1952 ( 1 male) (CUC); Kerdasa 11.VI.1933 ( 1 male) (MAC).
Remarks. Phycus rufofemoratus is here recorded in Egypt for the first time.
