Description. Male. Body length 1.6–1.9 mm, wing length 1.4–1.6 mm. Female. Body length 1.7–1.8 mm, wing length 1.3–1.5 mm. Morphological characters as in Cook 1956, except the description “fork of M slightly longer than stem”. The M fork is as long as or slightly shorter than stem both in Cook’s figure and the specimens we have.

Distribution. China ( Beijing; Hebei Province; Heilongjiang Province; Liaoning Province); Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland ( Haenni 2013; Haenni & Carles-Tolrá 2020).

Remarks. A widely distributed species in Northern China with 26 specimens from four provinces. S. genypodis can be separated from other Swammerdamella species by the spine-like process on male sternite 7 and a pair of tooth-like projections on male terminalia.
