The specimen was a female of 658 mm TL, 357 mm disc length, 474 mm disc wide and 2466 g weight. The normal pigmentation of the species is brown dorsally, with densely distributed small dark spots and often concentration of dark spots surrounding pale area over posterior section of pectoral fins, and the ventral surface white ( McEachran, 2016). The abnormal pigmentation showed the dorsal surface yellow-orange with numerous taupe spots, and the ventral part white; the eye colour was normal (black).
The DNA sequences of the M. merluccius and R. montagui individuals were employed as queries to search the GenBank (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genbank/) and BOLD (http://www. boldsystems.org/) databases, and in both cases a 100% identity was obtained with sequences of normal coloration of both species.
